LMC elections – join us in May to learn about what is involved in being an LMC member

This year every LMC seat is up for election and next month you will have a chance to stand for election to your LMC.

Any GP working in one of the 27 London boroughs we represent may be nominated for election regardless of their contractual status. We particularly welcome nominations from those GPs who are under-represented on current LMCs.

Serving on your LMC is a rewarding and important step in your career. Dr Adam Jenkins, Chair of Londonwide LMCs’ Board and a sessional GP in west London says: “There has never been a more important time for GPs to be fully represented locally. LMCs have a crucial role in securing the future of general practice, and are the only bodies representing the interests of all GPs as providers of primary health services.

We need to have balanced committees and it is vital to get every London GP, partner, employed, locum, new entrant and trainee GP involved in their LMC. Regardless of your previous involvement in medical politics, or your level of understanding of the NHS structures, you would be welcomed and fully supported as a new LMC member.”

If you are interested in standing for election and want to know more, we are holding networking events on two days, Thursday 10 May and Tuesday 22 May, at Londonwide LMCs’ offices in Tavistock Square.

If you would like to attend please email Marie Vassallo (marie.vassallo@lmc.org.uk), expressing your date preference.

Nomination packs will be sent out from 30 April for GPs to complete if they would like to stand for election. We will also be having two networking events for any interested GPs to attend to find out more about serving on your LMC. More information will be available soon.

If you have any queries please contact lmcelections@lmc.org.uk.
