Practice Nurses

The overall remit of the LMC is to represent NHS GPs. However, Londonwide LMCs is actively working with General Practice Nurses (GPNs) on a number of developmental and educational initiatives.  We encourage GPNs to participate as observers on LMCs and you can find out more about this opportunity by talking to a member of staff at Londonwide LMCs.

General Practice Nurses are a vital part of any practice team and will play an increasingly central role in General Practice provision in the capital. Despite this, the GPN profession is suffering from an all time low in support and training provision.  With this in mind, we have been working hard to ensure we fill this void wherever possible, focussing primarily on the provision of tailored training for this sector.

Our Learning Education and Development (LEAD) programme runs a number of dedicated GPN events and workshops, both clinical and non-clinical.  In addition, we have put in place a robust online training programme, with a team headed up by Kathryn Yates, our nursing lead. A high proportion of students have subsequently found employment in general practice.

Our GP Support team are on hand to signpost appropriate paths to deal with practice issues and the communications and marketing team are on hand to advise on any media issues.  All GPNs also recieve our regular e-commuinications.
