LMC Special Crisis Conference
As you will have seen from Michelle’s M Word 24 and M Word 25 and other communications The General Practitioners Committee (GPC) of the BMA has voted for a Special Crisis Conference of LMCs to discuss what actions are required to deliver a safe and sustainable GP service. The conference will be held on 30 January 2016 in London. It follows a unanimous GPC vote in response to calls for action from LMCs across the country, including all those represented by Londonwide LMCs.
This is a very significant move and an opportunity for new entrant GP s and trainees to get involved and have your voice heard. Crucially, it is essential that our conference representatives are, and are seen to be, representative of our diverse community of GPs. We especially want to hear from everyone who wants to get involved on the day, whether as a representative or through social media activity. Please contact Dr Elliott Singer by noon on Tuesday December 15th.
On Wednesday 2 December we sent a request to Londonwide GPs for details of actions they would like to come out of the conference. We have now collected the responses, which will be reviewed by your LMC Medical Directors and chairs, along with comments made on our various online forums and in recent LMC meetings. These will inform the drafting of policy motions to be submitted to the Special Crisis Conference on behalf of all our LMC areas in London. The emphasis will be on actions required to deliver a safe and sustainable GP service.
