Stand. Vote. Engage. The 2018 LMC elections

Nomination papers for this year’s LMC elections were sent out in the week beginning 30 April 2018. This year every LMC seat is up for election.

We want any GP working within the 27 London boroughs we represent to stand for election, regardless of their contractual status. We particularly welcome nominations from those GPs who are under-represented on current LMCs.

For example, GP Speciality Trainees can really benefit from being LMC members as Dr Gemma Eyres, a trainee GP and member of Tower Hamlets explains:

“Being an LMC member provides a vital outlet for raising issues and concerns that may not affect some of our colleagues in different contractual positions. It is also a great learning experience as well as helping with your personal development. I would recommend that fellow VTS GPs stand for election to their LMC as it is a useful forum for engaging with local GPs and organisations, whilst making sure that the trainee voice is represented. It is so important to be involved in these changing times for general practice; so regardless of your involvement in medical politics, or your level of understanding of GP issues, you would be welcomed and fully supported as a new LMC member.”

If you are interested in standing for election and want to know more, we are holding a networking event on Tuesday 22 May, at Londonwide LMCs’ offices in Tavistock Square.

If you would like to attend please email Marie Vassallo (marie.vassallo@lmc.org.uk), expressing your date preference.

If you have any queries please contact lmcelections@lmc.org.uk.
