Our November 2016 workforce survey is now live

Thank you in advance for making space in your hectic day to complete our short survey on practice workforce issues which will help us to gather insight to share with key opinion formers and stakeholders, and to generate stories highlighting the pressures you are under for trade and national publications.  Our latest workforce survey went live on Friday 25 November and will help us to understand how / whether things have changed in the six months since our May 2016 survey.

On 25 November GP principals and practice managers received an email survey invitation from ComRes.

General practice is the backbone of the NHS - providing for 90% of patients' needs on a paltry eight percent of its budget - and falling. To secure the future of general practice for the citizens of London we need to understand the challenges practitioners face every day and the additional resources and support needed, before it is too late.

Our May 2016 survey had an excellent response with nearly 50% of all London practices. It revealed some concerning intelligence about the workforce challenges facing London’s general practice including vacancies, pending retirement levels, plans to close, and their view about the future of general practice in London.

Using our earlier survey as a benchmark, in the new year we will be reporting back on how / whether things have changed for London general practice in the intervening 6 months.

The needs of general practices in London are central to everything we do so it is important to us that we have a good understanding of your work and the challenges you face on the ground. This piece of research will be instrumental in informing our strategy and discussions across the Capital over the next year and help us to understand the challenges your workforce is facing, and how you are working to overcome them.

If you are interested in helping us to understand and raise awareness of some of the workforce issues facing London’s general practice community, please contact comms@lmc.org.uk for a chat about the next steps in this project.
