November workforce survey findings published

Our most recent workforce survey shows the increasing pressure London practices face from GP shortages. The results will feed into decision making across sectors. It also attracted media coverage, contributing to our ongoing work to make the case for securing the future of general practice in London.

We want to make sure that we are representing you in the most effective way so we need your views to help us ensure we’re getting it right and to find out where we can improve.

Named GP poster

We have produced two waiting room posters as a quick and easy way to meet the requirement to tell patients they have a named GP. They explain that patients just need to ask at reception to find out who their named GP is.

Publication of GP earnings for 2014/15 required by 31 March 2016

Your practice’s mean GP earnings for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients must be publically disclosed by 31 March 2016.

Patient online deadline – what you need to know

Practices should allow patients access to their coded data within the GP record by 31 March 2016. This contractual requirement builds on patient access to the summary record which was switched on last year.

Appraisal toolkit

NHS England's funding for the Clarity appraisal toolkit has ceased, if you are not continuing with it you will lose all access to the system and stored information on 31 March 2016. There is no requirement to use any particular vehicle for your appraisal, but GPs intending to use an alternative supplier are advised to inform their appraisers well before their next appraisal date, and check the mechanism for transferring previous appraisal data from Clarity.

LMC elections

NHS England Friends and Family Test support changes

NHS England's one-on-one FFT support is ending in March 2016. There will be events through the month as part of a final push to support practices in meeting this contractual obligation.

Training and development events update

We run a range of training events for GPs and their practice teams. The recent Infection Control Update and ICO Data Protection workshops were both well attended and provided valuable training.

Media round-up

Our workforce survey findings ran in the Observer on 14 February 2016, with a front page trail in the print edition. Our CEO, Dr Michelle Drage was interviewed for the lead item on the BBC London TV news on the same day. The survey results were also reported in Pulse, GPOnline, Practice Business, This is Local London and Michelle was interview by London Live News and BBC Radio London’s Eddie Nestor show (02:37:30 into this clip, available until mid-March 2016).
