Home Office use of patient data: our first duty is to our patients and to do them no harm

Patient access to SystmOne instant messenger

Changes to data protection laws mean patients can access messages sent via SystmOne’s instant messenger upon request. These messages are kept as a permanent record, which practice staff should bear in mind when using the instant messenger.

Vaccination codes

Childhood vaccination coding can be unexpectedly complex. There are 26 pre-school and school age vaccinations. Practices can record these vaccinations using over 1,000 different codes. Read how you can help to reduce the number of codes currently being used.

NHS England Windrush70 Awards

In celebration of the NHS’s upcoming 70th birthday, NHS England will host the Windrush70 Awards on Tuesday 12 June in Manchester. We are encouraging people to nominate NHS general practice workers who deserve special recognition for a Windrush 70 Award.

General Practitioner of the Year Awards now open

The General Practice Awards are in their 10th year and nominations for a number of prestigious awards for primary care professionals are now open.

Media and public affairs round-up

OnOn 17 March Dr Jackie Applebee, Chair of Tower Hamlets LMC, was quoted in an Evening Standard article on practices being asked for patient details by the Home Office. On 19 March Londonwide LMCs were quoted in an HSJ report on how a Bablyon-powered pilot was not commissioned in Southwark, following concerns raised by local GPs including the LMC. Representatives of Ealing, Hammersmith and Hounslow LMC and Hammersmith and Fulham LMC have provided briefings to medical trade press on the challenges new delivery models pose to general practice funding.
