Subject access request survey reports increased requests to half of practices

There are some interesting results coming from the current survey on subject access requests (SARs) received by practices that is has been designed by Dr Paul Cundy, a GP in Merton.

If you have not done so already, please complete the short online survey. Just one response per practice is required. The survey closes on Monday 27 August 2018.

As of 20 August there have been 1,367 responses from across the country.

  • 54.9% of responders have noticed an increase in the number of requests for copies of records from solicitors or claims management companies since GDPR came into effect at the end of May 2018.
  • There has been roughly a 26% increase in requests in those practices that have seen an increase.
  • On average practices are receiving around 15 SARs per month.
  • The highest number of responses (25.5%) have come from practices with a list size of 3,001 to 6,000 patients.

The survey contains four questions and takes less than three minutes to complete. It closes on Monday 27 August 2018 so please do try and complete it to help Dr Cundy establish a national picture around SARS. Just one response per practice is required.
