TPP QRISK2 error – responsibility for practices

NHS England is concerned that only around half of practices affected by the TPP QRISK2 error have accessed the lists of affected patients provided to them.

Dr Andrew Green, Chair of the GPC Clinical and Prescribing subcommittee, suggests that practices should be aware of who these patients are and advises that it would be difficult to defend a practice which has not checked the lists provided by NHS England.

NHS England is considering sending a further reminder to practices that need to access the lists. They will also be sending out a workload survey which will be used in negotiations with TPP to try to secure some form of compensation for the work involved in managing the TPP QRisk2 error.

GPC encourage practices to access the lists, but once the lists have been accessed advice to GPs is to prioritise this work in accordance with their other clinical duties.
