Junior doctors industrial action
The junior doctors’ strike on Tuesday 12 January drew widespread support from the public and across the medical profession. At the time of writing the 26 January strike has been suspended.
In October Dr Ben Molyneux, of City and Hackney LMC, wrote why GPs should support junior doctors.
We are aware that some employers reportedly required junior doctors who fell ill on strike days to provide a GP note note for even a single day of absence rather than self-certify. Should your practice be approached to provide such a note, you may wish to use our template letter for refusing to issue sick notes for periods of absence less than seven days. It is available to download on our GP Resilience site, along with other resources for practices.
