Removal of fax machines from your practice – NHS guidance

The GP Contract states that practices should stop using fax machines for either NHS or patient communications by April 2020.

New NHS guidance is now available to assist you in meeting this requirement.

The requirement is part of the programme of work agreed between NHS England and GPC England to deliver on a number of IT related subjects over the next five years. There have been agreed measures that will become contractual requirements in April 2020 or April 2021 subject to available IT infrastructure.

The NHS guidance includes a six step implementation plan, a checklist and information on benefits such as cost savings.
