GP Contract changes – Coronavirus provisions extended
At the end of September NHS England wrote to practices and commissioners reminding them of the 2020-21 GP Contract changes and announcing announced the extension of some temporary measures introduced as part of the Coronavirus response, specifically:
• A suspension of the requirement that practices report to commissioners about the Friends and Family Test returns.
• A temporary suspension of the requirement for individual patient consent in certain circumstances, in order to encourage increased use of electronic repeat dispensing.
• A continuation of the temporary increase in the number of appointment slots that practices must make available for direct booking by NHS 111 to 1 slot per 500 patients per day. The letter makes provisions for practices to reduce the number of NHS 111 slots if there is low demand.
