This course aims to provide knowledge and skills to enable attendees to take cervical samples correctly and safely and to be able to answer any questions paitents may have about the cervical sample process and outcomes.
 
 
 
Who is it for?
  • Registered nurses.
  • Registered midwives.
  • Registered physician associates.
  • Medical doctors.
 
 
How does it work?

The course follows the guidance given by Public Health England in relation to the training of cervical sample takers and incorporates the competency framework CHS37. It is also accredited by the RCGP.

The course consists of:
  • Two taught days.
  • A practical element with a final requirement of achieving 20 adequate samples.
  • A colposcopy clinic visit with a documented reflection of the visit.
  • A visit to the laboratory or the completion of a virtual tour.
  • Completion of a personal clinical training record book.
 
 
How much does it cost?

 

The course costs £500 + VAT per student
 
 
 
Requirements

A successful applicant must have in place, a mentor:
  • Who has had 12 months continual experience following initial cervical sample training.
  • Who has taken a minimum of 50 successful cervical samples.
  • Who (if appropriate) has attended/ completed a cervical training update within the last three years.
  • Who is a practicing sample taker.
The applicant must be working in an environment where the objectives of the course can be fulfilled within six months.

Both sessions are compulsory to attend.
