LMC elections 2021 - nominations now open

Nominations for the 2021 LMC elections are now open. 

Only LMCs represent every GP practice in their area and every person working within each one. Standing for your LMC is a great way to expand your knowledge and skills, while giving a voice to your colleagues in frontline general practice.

Whether you are an experienced LMC member who knows the system inside out, returning to work from maternity leave or a career break, recently qualified, or a long-serving GP with no previous experience in a medical leadership role, your expertise is welcome and we encourage you to stand. Your perspective and ideas are valuable to your LMC.

New LMC members are supported by colleagues to develop knowledge of the wider healthcare landscape and step into new responsibilities, meeting with NHS England, Clinical Commissioning Groups, Hospital Trusts, Integrated Care Systems, Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships, MPs, and others. Time spent on formal LMC activities is reimbursed via an honoraria, or to practices for back-fill, to recognise the commitment.

With all seats across the Londonwide LMCs' area up for election this year, and some existing members standing down, this is an opportunity to add new talent to the experienced representatives on our LMCs. Nominations are sought from every London GP, whether you are a partner, employed, locum, new entrant or trainee GP. We also take our commitment to equality and inclusion seriously and encourage participation from as broad a range of people as possible.

The deadline for receipt of nominations is 5.00pm on Friday 28 May 2021.
