Apprenticeship programme for General Practice in North West London

Londonwide LMCs and Health Education NWL are working in partnership with training providers to deliver apprenticeships in Business and Administration and Clinical Healthcare.

We are currently running a successful pilot programme in North West London and already have 11 apprentices placed in practices, working towards either Level 2 or 3 of the Business and Administration GNVQ.

The next intake is due to start soon, with interviews between the potential apprentices and participating practices taking place on Monday 8 February.

Prior to this we are offering you the opportunity of a three day trial with an apprentice candidate working in your practice, without committing to the overall programme, at no cost to you.

How the trial would work

You would act as a host practice for one young person from 3 to 5 February (Weds-Fri). They would attend the practice during normal working hours on these dates to do meaningful work experience (shadowing and simple admin tasks), to give both you and the candidate an idea of what it is like to be part of the programme.

Following this you can choose whether you would like to continue on the programme or not. If you do want to continue then you can either:

  • Offer your trial candidate an apprenticeship position.

or

  • Join the interviews on the 8 February between 1:00 – 5:00 pm at our offices to choose from the pool of candidates who have been through the same pre-employment training.

There is no obligation to hire and the final decision on who (if anyone) you employ is down to you as the employer alone.
