Practice manager conference and networking events
2019 was another strong year for the events we run to help meet the development needs of practice teams across London. We also continued our work in bringing people together to share knowledge and support each other.
Practice Manager Conference
The new half-day format of the annual Practice Manager Conference was a big hit with delegates. The content was succinct and relevant, and showcased the expertise of Londonwide LMCs’ staff in their respective areas of work. One delegate’s feedback sums up the event: “I really enjoyed this conference and thought it was completely worthwhile attending.”
The conference in the morning was followed by an inaugural general practice and allied health professional networking event, with many first-time attendees to a Londonwide LMCs’ event. One delegate’s assessment was:
“Any event like this which opens your eyes to the whole picture and enlightens you, and makes you think about other areas not often thought of in a busy working day is useful.”

General practice nurse, practice manager and health care support workers’ networking event
On the 4 December 2019 a networking event was held for GPNs, PMs and HCSWs. This annual event was the second one to be held, following the successful inaugural event held in 2018, with this year’s living up to the high standards set last year.
Delegates listened to different topics as follows:
- PCNs – Five months in – how should the finance be working;
- NHS Resolution – Six months of operating a state indemnity scheme and learning from claims; and
- What kind of leader do you want to be and what is holding you back?
Austin Ambrose from the Practice Managers Association advised of the places on the Excellence in Supporting Healthcare Certificate online course that will shortly be available to practice managers. Please look out for this.
Finally, the afternoon was rounded off with a raffle draw, afternoon tea and the opportunity to network.
