Life in general practice today – the Commonwealth Fund would like your views.

During the summer, the Commonwealth Fund in New York conducted a survey of GPs in the US and England to assess how front line doctors are feeling about practising in the two countries today.

The results of this study, one of many that Commonwealth has done over the years comparing health systems in different countries, will be published on 7 December 2015.

The Fund has asked an American GP, Dr Gordon Moore – a professor at Harvard Medical School, to conduct a small number of personal interviews of GPs in both countries to develop a more fine-grained view of life in general practice today. Gordon understands a great deal about the challenges facing General Practice in both our countries. He will be doing in-person, half hour to one hour interviews of 15 or so GPs from different parts of England and writing a companion piece to the published article to appear on the Commonwealth Fund’s web site. It will be a richer description of life as a general practitioner in the two countries, told through the personal observations of those doctors he interviews in the two countries.

Professor Moore will be in the UK from 28 September 2015 for one week. If you would be willing to meet with him, please reply to davidhaslam@hotmail.com.
