Unresourced and unfunded work
Our November 2016 workforce survey showed significant demand for work outside of core contract being put on responding practices. Of the 12 types of work not covered by core that we asked practices about, the top three that respondents said they received most requests for were re-referrals for missed hospital appointments (72%), medical assessment letters (69%) and letters relating to housing (also 69%).
Aside from the workforce survey practices have reported to us they are struggling to get re-imbursements for child safeguarding reports and being asked to provide pre and post-operative care that is not covered by their NHS contracts.
You can read more about our advice on child safeguarding report reimbursements.
Our GP State of Emergency site has template letters and posters for pushing back against unresourced work.
