Our test case challenging the breach notices served on practices that closed their doors on Christmas or New Year’s Eve 2013 has been successful.

Further details of the PMS review including the process CCGs and NHS England London are going through with regards to levels 1,2 and 3 are now available.

The new Co-ordinate My Care (CMC) IT system will launch on 24 November. There are important steps for GPs to take, particularly those who have not seen the pre-launch communications from CMC.

A practice recently received a breach notice for not completing adequate background checks on locums, specifically not checking their references. Our advice on background checks was issued earlier this year and has been updated accordingly.

Londonwide LMCs are working with Westminster LMC member Dr Paul O’Reilly to highlight the work of the Doctor Hickey Surgery in Westminster. The practice specialises in treating the homeless and there are some simple things we can do to help rough sleepers get through winter on the Capital’s streets.

Recent Government announcements concerning changes to re-booking missed hospital appointments and single payments to GP practices are designed to cut bureaucracy. Our own resilience resources include posters, template letters and guides.

The nasal flu vaccination, Fluenz, used in the children’s flu vaccination programme contains porcine gelatine. This may not be acceptable to certain faith groups. Stocks of this brand of vaccine are also running out and will be replaced by FluMist, which is pharmaceutically identical.

Londonwide LMCs, in collaboration with Healthy London Partnership co-hosted an event on 4 November at the Kia Oval attended by over 100 representatives from emerging GP Provider Groups, CCGs and education providers.

Dr Elliott Singer, one of Londonwide LMCs’ Medical Directors, has contributed to a dilemma piece in Pulse magazine and has his martial arts interest profiled in GPOnline. Read the dilemma here and profile here. The Londonwide LMCs communications team has been shortlisted for two awards at the Association of Healthcare Communications and Marketing National Awards 2015. The categories are Best Media Handling for their work detailing the challenges facing London general practice in the Guardian and Observer, and Best Engagement or Consultation for their GP Resilience campaign. The awards take place on Thursday 12 November.
