Learning Disability Training in Primary Care Module

How does it work?

One online module composed of four units
One full day taught day*
Four 500 word reflective accounts

*taught days are currently being delivered by Zoom. Zoom taught days are interactive with lots of discussion and opportunities to ask questions. Additionally, there will be an opportunity to hear from a person with a learning disability and a parent of a young person with a learning disability.

This module is written and delivered by field expert Jim Blair and is professionally accredited by the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).

Students will have 4 months (16 weeks) to complete the module but will be granted access to the online units for a maximum of 6 months.

Students must complete the 500-word reflective accounts at the end of each unit. Upon successful completion students will receive a Certificate of Completion from Londonwide LMCs and can be used towards CPD or revalidation.

Learning disability and health inequalities
Diagnostic Overshadowing
Checking a person’s understanding and Mental Capacity Act
Reasonable adjustments, Equality Act and health checks

Entry requirements:

Be a healthcare professional working in primary care.
Be supported by their practice / organisation to attend the taught day.
Be committed to the module for a minimum of 16 weeks.
Students will need to have access to email.

What does it cost?

The course cost £295 + VAT per person.
