Working with the third sector to support PPG development

The Patient Engagement Project hosted a roundtable event in winter 2016 to which third sector patient organisations were invited to hear about and debate the key themes identified by the project.

Roundtable participants agreed on common characteristics of effective Patient Participation Groups (PPGs), which included an open and honest culture of partnership working between practices and their PPGs. Participants also proposed practical ways to overcome potential barriers to patient engagement, including ways to engage diverse groups of patients in PPGs.

The report of the roundtable event “Working Together to support General Practice in London in fostering and developing patient participation groups” includes key Patient Engagement Project themes and the contact details and resources for practices and PPGs offered by third sector roundtable participants.
